There is a book called, "The Conditions of a Leader"(Leadership), by management guru, Mr.Konosuke
Matshushita, the founder of Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd.
This book is a compilation of 102 cases of words and actions by excellent leaders throughout the ages
until the modern era. In this book, Mr. Konosuke also summarized and added his own impressions and
opinions about these cases. It is also this book that Mr. Konosuke place himself into action and practice.
There is a page in this book regarding, "Obedience to Society".
In our society, there are various kinds of people, even sense of values and judgements are varied.
However, society and the general public as a whole is correct. As they say in the West, "The voice
of the people is the voice of God". This means, that as long as one listens to the word of society
like it is the voice of God, and accordingly taking it sincerely and wholeheartedly, the society shall
warmly accept one. The approval and agreement from the society shall be obtained.
Kuroda Jyosui who was a confidant and strategist of Hideyoshi feared most that he would surely
lose the country if he was disliked and shunned by his subjects.
Also, on the other hand, there is a page regarding, "Transcending Over Public Opinion".
Generally, public opinion or the views of many shall be regarded as most important.
The public opinion is the product of the wisdom of many and so to speak is a very precious thing.
However, in case of emergency, a higher wisdom must be brought forth to exceed public opinion.
Nobunaga Oda a feudal lord of the Age of Provincial Wars removed a besiege plan
among senior statesmen and roughly won a miraculous victory.
In any industry, it takes courage to conquer an existing habit or custom.
What has been done eversince is not always correct at present. Innovations and reforms are results
of destruction of the old. However, the new way is not always necessarily correct.
Deliberation, Decision, and Power are necessary to carry out something against public opinion.
At the end of March, the half of our business term will finish.
Our business plan is never contrary to society.
We strongly believe that the approval and agreement of the society are obtained.
