The fundamental ability term of a filter
1.Fundamental ability item
There are many uses of a filter and they also have various use situations
in each industry and each customer.
Here, we mention the item of the fundamental ability of a filter,
and explain briefly the term used in the field of a process filter mainly.
Since a process filter does not have standards, such as ISO,
the definition of YAMASHIN is indicated.

Definition

Accuracy

Absolute filtration accuracy:
The diameter of a particle which the capture (removal) efficiency becomes 99.9% or more.
Nominal filtration accuracy:
The diameter of a capture particle shown by each filter maker.

Efficiency

Capture (removal) efficiency over a certain particle.

Pressure loss

Pressure generated at the time of fluid passage.

Filter's life

Time or the amount of addition processings until pressure's difference is set to 0.1MPa.

Physical intensity

Intensity of Resisting
 pressure

Durability over pressure.

Chemical intensity

Chemical resistance

Durability over medicine.

Durability over
a solvent.

Durability over a solvent.

Thermal intensity

Durability over temperature.

Initial contamination

Dust, it may exfoliate, has adhered to the filter's surface on which touches the liquid.

Absolute filtration accuracy(abs.) The diameter of a particle removed 99.9%.  ‚k‚q‚u†‚S‚Ζ‚Θ‚ι
Nominal filtration accuracy(nom.) Accuracy which each maker shows. Its definition is not given in principle.

Notes: LRV=Log10 (IN/OUT)

Fluid for examination uses water and Powder for examination uses latex or standardized dust.

There are many makers who display nominal accuracy about the accuracy of a filter,
but in order to avoid a customer's confusion, in YAMASHIN, accuracy is displayed as absolute accuracy.
(A part, Wound etc., is removed.)

2-2. Pressure loss

Fluid for examination uses water.
The relation between flux and pressure loss is drawn.
2-3. Life
It is rare to show an absolute value.
It is performing an examination on the same conditions and writing "comparing " in most cases.
2-4. Intensity of resisting pressure
In YAMASHIN, the examination made to destroy is mainly performed.
However, in order to use high polymer resin as a material in many cases,
it is necessary to get to know the intensity of resisting pressure in consideration of heat resistance.

2-5. Chemical resistance/Solvent resistance
Liquid-proof is determined for the material used fundamentally.
However, as a filter, it means having guaranteed liquid-proof for practical use in a certain period.
Be careful of the point that it is not invaded eternally.

2-6. Heat resistance
It is the same as that of liquid-proof.
2-7. Initial contamination
It is the check test of the particle and the solubility substance adhering to the filter itself,
a test of specific resistance recovery and a test of seceding particle(fiber).
In a process use, from the case where the liquid itself to filter is goods, and the reason that liquid is very expensive,
There are many requests of the customer who wants to use liquid from immediately after exchanging filter.
For this reason, it is one of the performances how a filter is in a clean state.

(Notes-1) Test of specific resistance recovery
A filter is made to pass ultrapure water and the specific resistance by the side of a filter's exit
[reciprocal of the rate of electric conduction of water] is measured.
it is evaluated with the time or quantity which water passes until it becomes the same as the entrance side.

(Notes-2) Test of seceding particle(fiber)
A filter is made to pass ultrapure water by a certain flux,
and it measures how many particles(fiber) have appeared in the exit side.
