Q. If I initially hold 200 shares and later acquire an additional 800 shares, bringing my total holdings to 1,000 shares, from when is the holding period counted?
A. The holding period is counted continuously from the date on which you first held 200 shares. As long as your shareholding does not fall below 200 shares, the holding period will continue to be counted.
